AVID-2026-R1569

Description

Vulnerability CVE-2024-53878

Details

NVIDIA CUDA toolkit for Linux and Windows contains a vulnerability in the cuobjdump binary, where a user could cause a crash by passing a malformed ELF file to cuobjdump. A successful exploit of this vulnerability might lead to a partial denial of service.

Reason for inclusion in AVID: The CVE describes a vulnerability in NVIDIA CUDA cuobjdump that can crash when presented with a malformed ELF, causing a partial DoS. CUDA toolchain components are widely used in AI/ML workloads for training and deployment, and cuobjdump is a software tool within that stack. This is a software vulnerability in a dependency/toolchain used to build/run general-purpose AI systems, with clear CVE-based evidence. Therefore it satisfies AI relevance, GP AI supply chain relevance, security/safety vulnerability criteria, and sufficent signal for AVID curation.
