AVID-2026-R1390
Description
Denial of Service in aimhubio/aim (CVE-2024-12777)
Details
A vulnerability in aimhubio/aim version 3.25.0 allows for a denial of service through the misuse of the sshfs-client. The tracking server, which is single-threaded, can be made unresponsive by requesting it to connect to an unresponsive socket via sshfs. The lack of an additional timeout setting in the sshfs-client causes the server to hang for a significant amount of time, preventing it from responding to other requests.
Reason for inclusion in AVID: CVE-2024-12777 describes a denial-of-service vulnerability in aimhubio/aim (an AI experiment tracking/management platform). The issue arises from the sshfs-client usage in a single-threaded tracking server, causing hangs when connecting to an unresponsive remote socket, leading to DoS. This affects software components used in AI pipelines and deployment (AI experiment tracking stacks), representing a software supply-chain/security vulnerability within AI stacks. The CVE/NVD references provide sufficient evidence of the vulnerability and impact.
